Deadlines & Renewals

Families lose coverage and services every year by missing a renewal — a Medicaid redetermination packet that went unreturned, an IEP review that never got scheduled, an SSI report that slipped by. Enter your dates below, download a calendar reminder for each, and keep what your child is entitled to. Your dates never leave this device.

Saved on this device only. Any date you enter stays in your browser (localStorage) — it is never sent to us or anyone else. The reminder is a calendar file you download and add to your own phone or calendar app. Clearing your browser data, or the Clear button below, removes everything.

The deadlines families track

  • Medicaid annual redeterminationevery year

Alabama Medicaid re-checks your eligibility once a year. You'll get a renewal packet (often by mail) and must return it with current income/household info by the due date.

If you miss it: Miss it and your child can lose Medicaid — which pays for ABA, speech, OT and more. Re-enrolling can take weeks and create a coverage gap during therapy.

    Act / confirm:Alabama Medicaid: 1-800-362-1504

  • ALL Kids annual renewalevery year

ALL Kids (Alabama's CHIP) coverage lasts 12 months. Each year you must renew and confirm income before the enrollment year ends.

If you miss it: Let it lapse and coverage ends — premiums/copays aside, your child's autism services stop until you re-enroll. There's no automatic rollover.

    Act / confirm:ALL Kids: 1-888-373-5437

  • IEP annual reviewevery year

By law an Individualized Education Program must be reviewed and updated at least once every 12 months. The school schedules an IEP team meeting with you.

If you miss it: If the annual review slips, goals and services can go stale or be delivered under an out-of-date plan. Tracking the date lets you request the meeting on time.

  • IEP triennial re-evaluationevery 3 years

At least every 3 years the school must re-evaluate eligibility for special education (unless you and the school agree in writing it isn't needed).

If you miss it: Missing the 3-year re-eval can affect continued eligibility and the data behind your child's services. Knowing the date helps you prepare and consent to testing early.

  • ID/DD waiver annual recertificationevery year

Alabama's Intellectual Disabilities / Developmental Disabilities Medicaid waivers (through the Dept. of Mental Health) require a yearly recertification of level-of-care and financial eligibility.

If you miss it: Miss recertification and waiver services (respite, community supports, etc.) can be suspended or terminated — and waiver waitlists are long, so regaining a slot is hard.

Act / confirm:AL Dept. of Mental Health (waiver): 1-800-361-4491

  • SSI redeterminationevery year

Social Security periodically redetermines SSI eligibility — reviewing income, resources and living arrangements. You'll be asked to report and verify current information.

If you miss it: Not responding can suspend or stop SSI payments and may trigger overpayment notices. Mark the date you're told to report by.

    Act / confirm:Social Security: 1-800-772-1213

  • Age-18 SSI redeterminationone-time

When a child receiving SSI turns 18, Social Security re-evaluates them under the ADULT disability rules (a different, stricter standard than the childhood rules).

If you miss it: This one-time review can end benefits if adult criteria aren't met. Flag your child's 18th birthday early so you can gather medical evidence and respond on time.

    Act / confirm:Social Security: 1-800-772-1213

Dates, renewal cycles, and rules vary by program, county, and your individual situation — and they change over time. These descriptions are general guidance, not legal or medical advice.
